ORGANISATION, SIZE & SHAPE: 

  • Zebra Worldwide is approximately 80 people across 5 offices, with many partner organisations.

ROLE CONTENT AND OVERVIEW: 


This role will report into the COO, and require strong business partnering skills to support business heads / MD’s in managing their respective P&L’s. The position is newly created on the back of recent PE investment in the business, and will be play a critical role in the transition of the business into a wider group organisation. With this investment we are seeking across the business to embrace new technologies and ways of working to ensure that the finance function is scalable for rapid growth and development (in both volume and team size).We are looking for a candidate that demonstrates an entrepreneurial spirit, strong commerciality, a proactive attitude and a keen interest in the industry in which we operate. 

 

 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE ROLE: 

  • Overseeing the preparation of the group management accounts and balance sheet reconciliations, ensuring timeliness and accuracy for reporting back to the Board / Senior Management Team.
  • Provide meaningful insights, trends and forecasts through analysis of data.
  • Preparation and design of quarterly / annual board financial review packs.
  • Consolidation and preparation of annual budgets and forecasts (driven in part by business heads) into monthly and annual reporting cycles.
  • Overseeing the preparation of statutory reporting, liaising with external auditors.
  • Evaluating, designing and implementing financial controls where required.
  • Continuously innovating and improving the financial systems, processes and policies with a forward thinking attitude.
  • Supporting the COO on commercial modelling for new business opportunities.
  • Supporting the Delivery Solutions Lead / operations teams in client rollout and set up from a financial and reporting perspective.
  • Managing working capital, preparation of the UK cashflow, and consolidation of group cashflows on a monthly basis to ensure adequate provisioning.
  • Oversee all areas of tax management, maintaining a strong knowledge of changes to tax and accounting regulation.
  • Responsible for the management of UK outsourced payroll, and ensuring this is reported accordingly in the P&Ls.
  • Manage and oversee all corporate and human resource finance activities alongside the HR manager, including employee benefits, retirement plans etc.
  • Responsible for the line management and personal development of the international 2 person UK team and overall oversight of the 4 person finance team (Management Account – UK, Accounts Assistant – UK, Finance Manager – SA, AP Clerk – SA).
  • Manging relationships with our supply chain and service providers.

 

 

EDUCATION/QUALIFICATION: 

3 years PQE (ACA/CIMA)

  • 2:1 + Degree in Finance, Accounting or Business related
  • Strong technical knowledge, abreast of current IFRS/GAAP legislation
  • Advanced Excel skills (formula, modelling and spreadsheet creation)
  • Strong knowledge of other Microsoft applications (PowerPoint, Word, Outlook etc)
  • Knowledge of and ease of adaptability to various financial softwares (Sage, Netsuite, Dynamics, Sap/Oracle etc)

 

 

KEY SKILLS: 

  • Comfortable working with large sets of data to provide meaningful insights and trends (to financial and non-financial staff alike)
  • Confident in challenging status quo and embrace and driving positive change
  • Proven business partnering & relationship management, with financial and non-financial staff

EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

FEATURES OF THIS ROLE:

We seek strategic leadership to grow what we believe has the potential to be the biggest single account in our business. This is a production centric account that already sees us delivering across all media and into many corners of a large global business. To realise its potential we seek an ambitious, experienced individual with a very high aptitude and understanding of how international multi-brand organisations work. The stakeholders are varied internationally & culturally, in their needs and in their personality types, which will require a high degree of emotional intelligence and a dogged pursuit to get things done.

You will work alongside an experienced Integrated Production Lead who has years of experience in delivering production services to such businesses and with whom you will need to form a strong partnership.

You will need to be able to work quickly and independently, often from within the client organisation to ensure that you have a deep understanding of the requirements and complexities at play and so that you can mine the opportunities that may otherwise not present themselves.

You will lead the account for EMEA, facing off to the Global Account Lead in the USA (New York) and will need to form a strong working relationship with them.

You will own and manage all key client relationships in EMEA (HQ Watford, Nr London)  and be involved heavily with the corporate teams based in the USA – predominantly Dallas, Texas and McLean, Virginia. This may require you to travel frequently into Europe and the USA.

You will oversee the commercial and financial elements of this account, running a separate P&L, opportunities pipeline and associated revenue & margin forecasting. You will be accountable for the profitability of this business and work closely with the Integrated Production Lead to ensure resourcing is effectively managed (balance of bandwidth, skills and utilisation).

You will report on the account to the Global Client Service Lead in the USA (Creative Drive) and in the UK to the CEO of Zebra.

Success in the role will be measured both in hard metrics such as growth and optimisation of revenue, profitability and client satisfaction, but also soft metrics such as internal staff satisfaction, contribution to the wider company as a senior team member in ZW and support of peers and staff working under you.

 

ACCOUNT LEADERSHIP – SPECIFIC REQUIREMENTS:

We expect this account to grow quickly and so require leaderships skills in the following areas.

Strategising, managing, reviewing, reporting on and developing:

  • Commercial forecasting and performance.
  • Operating models and ways of working
  • Organisational structures and reporting lines.
  • Technology – evaluate needs and support the use of technology (and sell it in) in order to drive efficiency and extend our service offer. For example, Workflow, DAM, automation, programmatic buying etc.

INTERNAL OPERATIONAL LEADERSHIP – SPECIFIC REQUIREMENTS:

Creating growth through the development of new and existing accounts:

  • Taking an active role as a member of the Zebra ExCom team (our senior management team of business unit / major account heads).
  • Working with the other ZW department heads to ensure you are connected and sharing best practice across the group / drawing on the wider resources available.
  • Reporting and communicating with the ZW leadership on all relevant matters / growth strategies.
  • Working closely with the ZW technical / IT teams as required to deliver new business.
  • Overseeing CRM and ensuring client satisfaction across new client bases.

REBOOTING OUR PRODUCTION COMPANY – STRIPEY HORSE IN LONDON & IN CAPE TOWN:

A key part of our strategy going forward is to redevelop and expand our content production offer to include strategic and creative services as well as cross media channel production. We will target large brands with healthy marketing budgets and a need for highly creative content, in industry sectors that we are excited to engage in.

To take this forward we have restructured our production business unit that focuses on creative content production, operating under the name Stripey Horse.

The restructure sees several new management roles in the UK and one in Cape Town who will support local activity and work closely with the UK team to bring production projects to Cape Town.

Together this group will lead on the development, growth and delivery of content production at all levels, from social media assets and ecommerce content to hero films, long form content and TVC.

Stripey Horse will focus on working with brands primarily, but also continue our association with broadcasters and record companies.

 

DETAILS OF THIS ROLE:

This is a key new management position which Zebra has created in Stripey Horse. You will report directly to the CEO strategically and COO operationally with responsibility for the growth and development of Production services in South Africa, working closely with the team in London to plan, manage and deliver productions.

The core responsibility is to set and deliver against the strategic objectives for Stripey Horse, leading on:

  • Defining the various categories of content production that we provide.
  • Development and implementation of commercial production models and the packaging of these for use in business development.
  • The development of Cape Town based Director’s roster
  • The design and hire of in-house production teams.
  • The sourcing and set up of freelance and partner rosters to cover crew, equipment and the related services needed to fulfil projects from end to end.
  • The development of a Producer roster that will evolve from a primarily freelance to a mixed in-house/freelance roster as the business unit grows, covering the various types of content that we will produce.
  • Support the business development team. I.e. you will be expected to contribute to presentations and attend pitches with others – sharing how productions would be managed and resourced
  • Working hands on to produce major projects and support the delivery of other projects where other Producers are leading – especially in the early days – showing hands on leadership of the business and helping to define ‘the way we do things’.
  • Training and developing the production teams that we employ in house to work in our preferred way, to established budget templates etc.
  • Ensuring consistent quality of standards in delivery from our own teams, associate and freelance teams.

 

The new Lead Commercials Producer will need to be a self-starter who is happy to develop and drive process forward of their own accord, applying their deep experience, whilst also being a strong team player and leader.

They should be ready to bring their industry knowledge and connections to bear in coordination with the other members of the management team and the wider Zebra business development team to identify new business prospects and scope the delivery of projects.

They should use their connections and management skills to find and recruit the best talent and support their development.

The key responsibility is to develop a service production offer in the mother city and to develop it as a local production company in its own right. We wish for our Cape Town facility to become a major provider of production services, working locally, in coordination with London and to be marketed to EU and US based brands / agencies looking to shoot there in the season, between Oct and Mar / April.

 

EXPERIENCE & UNDERSTANDING:

  • We expect our Lead Commercials Producer to demonstrate:
  • Excellent knowledge of production and post-production process, standards, technology and commercial models having worked in Cape Town and ideally across Africa.
  • Experience working in fast paced environments producing content for international brands.

  • An understanding of the stills production and retouching process, digital asset production and graphic design would be of interest.
  • A strong body of recent work that you have produced.
  • Good industry references from a range of clients / colleagues / suppliers (these will be taken up).

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: 

Managing and developing relationships with clients, suppliers and colleagues to facilitate delivery of TVC adaptation projects.

You will be supporting & reporting directly to the Account Director or Managing Producer on a specific account, with additional work delivered across other accounts as required.

This position requires the ability to maintain confidentiality and professionalism at all times.
We are looking for somebody with proven skills, experience and competency in the following category: Junior Adaptation Producer.

 

TECHNICAL SKILLS:

  • Good knowledge of post-production and familiarity of international versioning/ adaptation.
  • Experience working in post environment to manage international TV versions from brief to completion.
  • Technically confident with common TV formats, codecs, audio files etc.
  • Awareness of post-production software: Avid, FCP, Premier, After Effects, 3DS Max, Nuke etc.
  • Good TV admin skills – awareness of the importance of usage rights; media schedule fulfillment, play-out process etc.
  • Knowledge of delivery systems: i.e. Adstream, Beam, IMD, Dub-Sat etc.
  • Adaptation experience: awareness of global broadcast specs, local regulators, working in other languages including voice records.
  • Experience of working in the broadcast environment and therefore awareness of advertising standards & regulations.

  • IT competent including; GMAIL, MS OUTLOOK, Word, Excel
  • Level headedness with good judgment and a sense of humour!
  • Willing to support and help develop people around you.
  • A good team player outside of core role requirements, supporting social activity

 

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:

  • Based in our Dalston office with requirements to work from other London offices depending on business needs.
  • Standard working hours are from 09:00am to 17:30pm, including a one-hour lunch break or breaks totalling one hour, with the understanding that there may need to be some reasonable flexibility to manage the needs of the business.
  • Employee is entitled to 25 working days (plus public holidays) as holiday be booked in and approved in advance.
